about
"This song was inspired by a drum loop from an old Roland TR-505. I sat at the piano and started jamming. The first line I heard in my head was, "Everybody's seeing new colors, talking in rhyme." Somehow I remembered the phrase, "Don't look back, you're not going there," from a book someone gave me. From those pieces this song was born. After finishing the song I began to overlay the musical parts. I really was going for a "Sly and the Family Stone" thing which was fueled by the B-3 organ sound and multiple vocals. The thumping bass sound came from a Gibson SG bass, which has a different feel and sound than a Fender P-Bass to my ear. Using harmonica is a tribute to the fantastic harmonica playing of Stevie Wonder on so many great recordings. Finally I added tambourine, claps and a bit of Bobby Womack inspired guitar. I hope you can groove to this one!" ~The Maestro
The lead singer of punk band Camp Cope ventures into romantic synth-pop territory, tempering slick arrangements with bare sentiment.
